Masquerave at Bearfoot Bistro (Cornucopia, Whistler BC)

Unfortunately for me, the wonderful annual event Cornucopia (which takes place in Whistler) ALWAYS coincides with JT’s birthday and therefore, I NEVER get to participate. But the fact that I can’t attend doesn’t mean I can’t indicate to my lovely readers and Twitter/Google Plus/Facebook followers about the return of Masquerave, a fantastic event that after a 5 year hiatus came back to Cornucopia, and it will take place at Bearfoot Bistro on November 12th, 2011. Incidentally, the Bearfoot Bistro is located at the Listel Hotel where I stayed last summer during a quick media trip I did to showcase what you can do in Whistler when you’re not a skier or snowboarder (like me).

British Columbia and six chefs from the province of Québec, each creating masterful canapés at separate food stations, to complement the exquisite creations designed by Bearfoot’s award-winning executive chef, Melissa Craig. Guests will sip from a range of 40 local and international wines, and celebrate with Dom Pérignon champagne. Chefs lending their skills to the event include ‘C’s’ Rob Clarke, Gord Martin from Bin 941 and Go Fish, Cioppino’s Pino Posterero, Vikram Vij from Vij’s, and Hidekazu Tojo from Tojo’s Restaurant; also joining the chefs will be Joe Forte’s oyster shucker ‘Oyster Bob.’

International DJs with live musicians, light shows, burlesque-style entertainment, and circus art performance will ignite the evening, while models adorned with winery-inspired body paintings will add the element of eroticism now synonymous with Masquerave.

This sounds like it will be a fabulous event, more so because the organizer has set his sights on donating a significant sum of money to ONE DROP, an organization that fights poverty worldwide through supporting access to water. Funds will also support Whistler’s Ecole La Passerelle (Francophone school) and the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation.

Tickets are priced at $295.00 CAD per person, and guests can reserve a VIP lounge for up to 10 people, for $1,495.00 CAD, plus the cost of tickets. Taxes and service are not included. Preferred overnight rates at top Whistler hotels, and a fleet of taxis on hand, will ensure that guests get home safely.
