Ikura Sushi (Marpole, Granville and 70th)
I’m slightly wary of places in strip malls. For whatever reasons, I find places like those strange. But lately I have found out that my fear of strip malls may be unfounded. Ikura Sushi is one of those rare gems that I had not visited and that now I will go back. I took JT there for dinner before we went to Metro Theatre to check The 42nd Street. I ordered a combo A (spicy tuna roll, BC roll and California roll) and 2 pieces of salmon nigiri sushi.
Overall, I would definitely come back to Ikura Sushi. Inexpensive (dinner for 2 was $24 before taxes, and it was generous!) and tasty, fresh fish and very well done sushi rolls. Can’t complain.
JT ordered a bento box A (with California roll, some tempura, some chicken teriyaki). The size of my nigiri sushi were really a bit unreal (pretty big, for what I normally get – similar to Momo Sushi in fact, another of my favorites).

Looks like a pretty good value and based on that 95% rating on Urbanspoon, this could be one of those hidden gems that no one talks about. Thanks for the heads up about Sushi Oyama too. Good stuff.
