National Hunger Awareness Day (June 2nd, 2009)

I wrote last year about National Hunger Awareness Day, and I was just reminded by my friend Kulpreet Singh about it. I am a firm believer that even in the worst economic times, food banks are the charities that need our support the most. My friend Rebecca has been a long time supporter of the Vancouver and Surrey Food Banks as well, even organizing several events that have either raised funds or collected food for these worthy organizations. I also learned from Anita Webster about an event that Campbell Soup is putting together tomorrow, on NHAD ’09 at Pacific Centre. You can read more here.

How can you help on National Hunger Awareness Day? Their website offers many suggestions. You can donate, speak, talk, advocate, spread the word. But more importantly, you should learn more about the extent to which hunger is still prevalent in Canada. Learn more from the Food Banks website.
