I love carrot juice

Breakfast and brunch (e.g. breakfast/lunch) are two of the meals I really love the most, both cooking AND eating. During my years in Canada, I have noticed that for many people, the beverage of choice for breakfast is orange juice. I, however, grew up in a household where the juice of choice to accompany breakfast is carrot juice. Not surprisingly, whenever I need to feel good, I drink carrot juice.

As I was growing up, I remember I would drink litres of carrot juice (mostly, because of the flavor, but also because I thought that it would benefit my eyes – I still suffer myopia, but at least I made the most of it, and I am guessing those beta-carotenes must do me some good). Carrot juice also has a little sliver of emotional attachment. My (late) auntie would make carrot juice (as she knew I loved it) every morning before I headed to my volleyball training. She would even pack me containers so that I could drink carrot juice throughout my rather rigorous exercise regime.

And now it has become a symbol of care and love for me.
