I have voted in Mexico’s 2012 Federal, State and Municipal Election

I have voted! Ya vote! #MexicanElections2012 #Elecciones2012Every single federal election (at least the last 3), I have lived outside of Mexico. While Mexicans can now vote abroad, it’s a coincidence that I was able to vote in this year’s federal and state-level election (well, actually it’s for all 3 levels – federal, state and municipal). For me, making the most of my civic duties is a right, a pleasure and a responsibility. I teach Public Policy, and it would look really BAD if I, the professor, weren’t actually exercising my democratic civic rights and didn’t vote. I always keep telling my students in Canada that if they don’t vote (when they have the right and capability), they thus forfeit the right to complain about their government.

If you are Mexican and living abroad, I hope you have voted. And if you live in Mexico, you can find your voting booth (casilla electoral) by providing your Section on the IFE website, as well as the state you live in.
