2011 Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling (Sweet) #WineWednesday
Sorry folks, but I can’t let go another Wine Wednesday go without providing you with suggestions for your wine drinking activities, particularly now that Vancouver’s weather seems to be a little bit nicer, and sunnier. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2011 Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling, as it is a very sweet wine. I have always loved Rieslings, but I recognize that not everybody likes the degree of sweetness I like. With an alcohol content of 10.0%, it packs a little bit of a punch but it’s not overwhelming. A Total Acidity index of 0.78g/100 ml and a bit more acidic pH of 2.98, what gives this Riesling a delicious flavour, I think, is the Residual Sugar (substantially higher than most Rieslings, I think at 5.22g/100 ml)
Our Harvest Select Riesling is made in a slightly sweeter style than our ‘Columbia Valley Riesling’ but still shows the elements of classic Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling. It offers beautiful crisp Washington Riesling character with rich flavors of ripe pears and peaches. The fresh fruit punch and richness is balanced with crisp acidity to keep the wine in harmony. This is a perfect patio sipping wine or would be a great match with Thai food.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this Riesling and I probably would pair it with fresh salads, or fish. Or drink on your sunny deck.
