Growing an Online Community using Multiple Social Platforms (Power Session at Social Media Camp Victoria 2012)
I have been slowly refining my thinking on the ideas around growing an online community using social media platforms. Earlier last year, my good friend and book co-author Arieanna Schweber and I started wrapping our head around establishing sets of best practices to build robust online communities. Recently I’ve been giving some more thought to newer platforms (Instagram and Pinterest, mainly) and thus my Power Session at Social Media Camp Victoria 2012 will be around an overall Multiple Social Platforms approach to building sound and strong online communities. Abstract below (the schedule for my Power Session is 11:10am to 11:55am in the Metchosin Room).
In this Power Session, we will discuss the various ways in which you can grow a robust online community using multiple social platforms. In the Power Session we will talk about newer platforms (Instagram, Pinterest) as well as more established tools (Facebook, Twitter). We will also touch on blogs and blogging platforms.
If you are at Social Media Camp Victoria 2012, you probably want to join the discussion. I won’t be giving a presentation itself, but I’ll be sharing some basic thoughts on how to use multiple social platforms to enhance your online community. I will also share my thoughts on best practices.
