BC Arts and Culture Week 2012 (Apr 22-29th)
It’s quite coincidental that British Columbia’s BC Arts and Culture Week 2012 also takes place the same week as International Dance Week. We have a multitude of extremely talented dancers in Vancouver, although dance is only one of the fine and performing arts, and Vancouver is (despite funding challenges) one of the hubs of British Columbia’s arts scene. Throughout my travels in this wonderful province I was able to take in some of the great fine arts in British Columbia, and thus it’s fitting that I promote BC Arts and Culture Week 2012.
BC Arts and Culture Week is a BC-wide celebration of all things art and culture that turns the spotlight on the vital contribution that they make in learning and in life. Hundreds of arts councils, communities and schools across the province will be joining the fun by presenting a dazzling range of events and activities from pop-up dance performances to art crawls, exhibitions, open mics and much more. Music, films, media arts, dance, books, theatre and visual art are a part of daily life, and have a lasting impact. They inspire us, challenge us and broaden our horizons and help us to become informed, aware and contributing members of society. We invite all British Columbians to join the celebration by participating in local BC Arts and Culture Week events.
I have spent the majority of my last 6 years of blogging promoting the arts in British Columbia (and Canada) and thus I encourage you to take in and participate in some of the events of BC Arts and Culture Week. Check out the lineup of events here.
