Barre Fitness North Shore Opening (and a contest!)

Barre Fitness Launch Aug 2010You may remember that a couple of years ago, I wrote about Barre Fitness, a wonderful studio with very specific models of exercise (with a barre, like the one you use for classical ballet training). Barre Fitness has been so successful in Yaletown that they have expanded to the North Shore (the official opening is next week) and to celebrate, they’ve entrusted me with a prize pack: 2-week pass, a Barre Fitness t-shirt and socks so you can use them for your exercise. Frankly, I don’t think a lot of people realized how much of a workout you require to be a dancer, let alone a dancer who competes or does this for a living! So I’m glad Barre Fitness does this.

Barre Fitness is an invigorating 1 hour workout that will change your body! Ballet barre based workouts have been toning and shaping celebrity bodies for over 50 years, and now Barre Fitness is the first studio of its kind in Canada.

Barre Fitness Launch Aug 2010

To enter my giveaway, all you need to tell me is what do you do for exercise? Most people ask me how do I get as much done in the time I have (to have an academic life AND a social media life). The answer is: I exercise very early in the morning. That way I am energized for the rest of the day. I do cardio 3 days a week and weights 3 days a week, but I am definitely considering joining Barre Fitness, given that I am trained as a competitive dancer!

I will draw winners of this giveaway on Friday April 27th at 2pm, so that you can make use of your 2 week pass right after the opening. And as usual, a comment here and a tweet will earn you a total of 2 entries. Good luck everyone!

Shared my exercise regime with @hummingbird604 to enter to win a @barrefitness prize package http://is.gd/iJCwVB. What’s your routine?

My exercise regime consists of mostly walking, running a few times a month and playing tennis and biking in the summer time

I don’t do enough these days. I was going snowboarding but now I am back to weights at my gym three times a week and that’s it. I hope to do some biking, Barre classes and kickboxing this summer.

The one exercise routine I can count on is my mini-trampoline. It helps me on my lazy days when I really don’t want to get dressed to go out but it promotes non-laziness and exercise.

It’s not just about the mini-bounce that helps the lymph system but I can actually jog on the mini-tramp and break a good sweat getting a low-impact but high cardio workout.

I exercise by running, riding my bike, playing squash and doing yoga. I’m looking forward to adding Barre Fitness to my routine!

At this point in my life, I am busy working full-time, planning a wedding and finishing my Masters in Early Childhood Education. I need to schedule in my workouts like I have an important meeting to go to! For excercise, I like to do yoga, pilates, and run. In the near future, I hope to include Barre back into my routine!

I started Barre classes about a month ago and I’m loving them! I only wish I could go more often. When the North Shore studio opens, that will certainly help. I do lots of walking and running with my two wee ones.

I am passionate about fitness and I do a variety of different things each week to keep my body fit! Pilates, yoga, body attack, body flow, TRX, core! I have been to a few barre classes and they were so challenging… Even for people who are already fit!

I work out on my lunch break at work with another woman in my office. I love the mid-day break. My husband and I just recently finished P90X and I am proud of our accomplishment! Apart from that, I try to hike every weekend. I also enjjoy mountaining biking, yoga and attending classes at the rec centre. I practiced ballet as a child and young adult and learned about Barre through a friend. I can hardly wait to try it out as I am thinking it may be the perfect fit for me!

I usually try and walk everywhere and, taking care of 4 kids and two dogs is a workout in itself!

ChelseaApril 20th, 2012 at 12:05 am

I run 2 or 3 times a week and do weights 3 days a week! I am so excited that barre is opening on the North Shore! I have been very excited to try it out!

JenniferApril 20th, 2012 at 1:51 pm

My exercise regime used to include weekly dance and yoga classes. I also regularly hiked and ran. Since having surgery last October I have slowed all my activity down to simply trying to fit in a daily walk! Now, I am starting to amp up my fitness again. I would love to try out the Barre classes. It sounds challenging and fun!

Ive just recently started working a 9-5 so I’ve had to change my workouts accordingly! I try to mix it up by going to the gym, running outside, and doing team sports (beach volleyball starts in 2 weeks I’m so excited!)

JenniferApril 22nd, 2012 at 7:15 pm

During the week I will either run or go to the gym for weights, and on the weekend I like to go hiking! I’ve never really participated in any fitness classes so this would be a new challenge for me.

mariaApril 22nd, 2012 at 9:34 pm

I go for long walks and do some hand weights at home.

Jessica OmanApril 22nd, 2012 at 9:35 pm

I am big into P90X. So challenging, so intense, and so cheesy!

RebeccaApril 23rd, 2012 at 12:02 am

I belong to a gym where I do the treadmill/bike/elliptical and take yin yoga and yolates classes. I also have a Jack Russell terrier, so he keeps me fit on our daily walks. I’ve heard great things about Barre, so I’d like to give it a try, too.

PhyApril 24th, 2012 at 9:56 am

I do yoga about 4 times a week. I should probably go to morning classes before work but it’s so hard to wake up extra early! Of course you get more time in the evening to do other things. In the summer I like to run or rollerblade as well.

EmilyApril 25th, 2012 at 10:09 am

I try to squeeze in excercise or something active between school and work! I do everything from hot yoga, to running, to spinning, to hikes etc. I especially like getting outdoors when the weather is nice!

maryanneApril 25th, 2012 at 11:33 pm

weightlifting, walking, hiking, dance class!

KeishaApril 26th, 2012 at 11:17 am

I am a full time student so I try and work out whenever I have time. Currently I play on competitive volleyball and soccer teams, as well as run and go to the gym at least four days a week. I have always wanted to try the barre but have never been able to afford it (being a student and all)/ get to the Yaletown location. Great giveaway!

TeresaApril 27th, 2012 at 10:24 am

Would love to try the North Shore location.
