The Bombitty of Errors (Twenty-Something Theatre and Temporary Thing)

My friend Sabrina Evertt has done some of the most creative theatrical work I have seen in my years attending theatre in Vancouver (in fact, Sabrina and I became friends through me attending so many productions where she was either involved in or attending). Her company (Twenty-Something Theatre) is producing The Bomb-itty of Errors, by Jordan Allen-Dutton, Jason Catalano, Gregory Qaiyum and Erik Weiner. Directed by Catriona Leger, The Bombitty of Errors runs April 4 (Preview), April 5 (Opening) – 22 , 8 pm and it’s dark on Monday, April 16. The show takes place at the intimate Studio 16, 1545 W. 7th Avenue, Vancouver and ticket are sliding scale $15 – $25, available through Brown Paper Tickets.

After bringing the critically acclaimed productions of the World Premiere of Prodigals (2010) and Tough! (2011) to Vancouver, Twenty Something Theatre is pleased to present Temporary Thing’s production of The Bomb-itty of Errors – a fast-paced, energetic, musical “ad-rap-tation” of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. Elizabethan times get pumped up with live hip-hop flavour, as the actors sing, rap and rhyme fun, catchy and laugh-out-loud songs that retain much of the Bard’s original text – all with a live DJ on stage and original music by local artist, Anami Vice.

I have seen several of these actors in previous productions and I have always loved the directorial work of Catriona Leger so it should prove a fun show. And who doesn’t like The Comedy of Errors reinvented with energetic music? I do!
