God of Carnage (Vancouver Playhouse Theatre)
While the Vancouver theatre community has been facing severe challenges in recent months, I am delighted to announce that Vancouver Civic Theatres will present God of Carnage April 14 – May 5 at the Vancouver Playhouse. For ticket details, please call 604 665 3470.
The play God of Carnage is by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, directed by Miles Potter and it is also a co-production with The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre.
When two young boys get into a playground fight, their parents meet to discuss the incident in a civilized manner. But what begins as a calm and rational debate between grown-ups, soon degenerates into a hysterical evening of name-calling, tantrums and tears before bedtime.
The cast includes Oliver Becker (Michael), Shauna Black (Veronica), John Cassini (Alan) and Vickie Papavs (Annette).

My last review (e.g. the last time I was at a theatre show was from January 2012, which strangely and coincidentally enough was RED at the Vancouver Playhouse. When did you last see a show?

God of Carnage sounds like it will be a fantastic production and can’t wait to check it out.
The last theatre I saw was a staged reading of Larry Wong’s “Empress of Asia” at Firehall Arts Centre on March 24. The actors did a great job with a script that had been evolving right up to the performance. I am looking forward to seeing the fully staged version.
I saw RED also. It was an excellent show!
The Fantasticks! The ensemble presenting the play was, well, Fantastic!
The last piece of theatre I saw was last weekend – the final viewing of Vancouver Opera’s ‘The Barber of Seville’ – and before that I caught a Valentine’s Day showing of ‘Intimate Apparel’ at the Granville Island Theatre. I’m loving the arts in this city!
I’m glad that the Vancouver Playhouse’s fight, civilized efforts, but final tears didn’t result in carnage for the play, “God of Carnage”, for I have read that the play is a very good one — earnest and funny. Speaking of being ernest and funny, the last play that we saw was the Arts Club’s “The Importance of Being Ernest”, at the Stanley. It was a clever, witty, and larger than life production. Some very original, new adaptations to the old classic were added. We had a “Wilde” time.
God of Carnage, never heard. But I found it amazing. And I never experience watching a playhouse theatre.
I haven’t seen yet an opera live.. I just watched it in video. I love the way it relay the story, especially when it is a story of love. So touching!
I never experience watching in a theatre. Hope to watch the God Of Carnage Vancouver, sounds interesting to me.

I haven’t seen a play in a LOOONG time! However, I do have tickets to The Importance of Being Earnest this Thursday at Stanley Theater. So exicted for it!
Sadly the last show I saw was in Las Vegas and it was Cirque De Soleil – L’eau which was amazing! I need to see more theatre in Vancouver and I’d love to win this great prize. Thank you.
A year ago.
The last one I saw was Ignorance at The Cultch – so amazing. If puppet shows don’t count then it was Macbeth at Studio 58 earlier this year.

I saw the Arts Club Theatre’s production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest at The Stanley last Thursday. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was very impressed by the performance as well as the theatre…it was my first time at The Stanley!
