6 Simple Plugins to Make Your Basic WordPress Blogging Easy

I’m not a WordPress genius by any stretch of the imagination. However, the fact that I’ve extensively used WordPress to build an online community around my blog has been something that I have felt proud about. I always enjoy testing new plugins (I’m on a self-hosted install of WordPress) and using them to make my life easier. So, I’ve decided to veer away from the topics I’ve spoken about at previous WordCamps and this time I’m going to tell you about the 6 simple plugins that make my own WordPress blogging life easy, hoping they’ll help you too.

Bio: Raul Pacheco is the co-author (with Arieanna Schweber) of the e-book “Communities that Rock: Creating Kick-Ass Online Communities” (available online) and a specialist in comparative public policy. An educator, consultant and researcher, his whose online presence at Hummingbird604.com (blog, Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, Flickr, Klout) has generated a large online community about travel, food, dance, theatre, arts and lifestyle in and around the Vancouver Lower Mainland, the province of British Columbia and Canada as primary foci. As well as managing his own dynamic community, Raul budgets a limited amount of his time to offer social media consulting for non-profits, higher education, government, politics and public policy and frequently speaks and keynotes about community activism and community building (both in the online and offline spaces). He also blogs about his academic research. All his websites are coded in WordPress, and he prides himself in doing his own stunts and code HTML and *some* PHP by hand.
