EAT! Fraser Valley

On September 19th, Jessica and I (Anabelle) took a drive down to Abbotsford for the EAT! Fraser Valley festival and expo.

Excited and looking forward to great food, we got in and started going around the large space of the Tradex in Abbotsford. There were quite a few booths and we were impressed by the quality and variety of the food and services available.

We tasted a lot of things, but the most memorable products for me were a variety of tasty balsamic vinegars. Not everything was edible (there were sellers of kitchenware and accessories) but most booths had something to do with food. It made us really hungry!

The floor was divided in two main sections: one section where the samples were free and the other section with restaurants and wine where you needed to use food tickets to try things.

I personally used most of my tickets on the wine section (there was even mead–it was delicious!), and Jessica also had some salmon from the BC salmon farmers’ association. A few restaurants and restaurant chains had a booth as well and we saw lots of yummy-looking food.

We also saw a cooking lesson and even caught the end of an Iron Chef competition that seemed to attract a lot of people! There were also workshops about wine and cheese given for free if you could get a seat. We couldn’t attend any of them but a lot of them seemed very interesting.

There were so many booths and things to taste that it would be hard to go through everything and keep this post short, so here are a few pictures from our Eat! Fraser Valley Flickr stream to give you an example (and maybe whet your appetite!)

We had a lot of fun during our afternoon at Eat! Fraser Valley and we look forward to next year’s festival in both Vancouver and Abbotsford!
