Stack the Rack: A benefit event in support of Qmunity

I had the pleasure of attending a mini version of Stack the Rack (#StacktheRack) at Ensemble on Wednesday afternoon, a benefit for Qmunity and a chance to meet and mingle with local media personalities.

Stock up on wines perfect for the holiday entertaining season & enjoy fabulous food from Chef Dale MacKay
Amuse Consulting + Vancity present the 1st annual STACK the RACK benefit for QMUNITY in partnership with Marquis Wine Cellars & ensemble Restaurant & Bar on Monday, October 3, 2011 (6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.).

It was a very cool coming-together of different worlds. Congratulations to chef Dale McKay for winning Top Chef Canada, you really deserve it. The food was absolutely amazing, including pulled pork and apple sliders, beef capicollo, and delicious eggplant / baba ghanouj bites. Many thanks to Leah Bickford of Marquis Wine Cellar for her extensive knowledge and friendliness.

The true reason for the event and benefit itself was represented by Jennifer Breakspear, executive director of Qmunity. Qmunity is BC’s queer resource centre, and it is a place where British Columbia’s gay, lesbian, bi, queer, transgendered and two-spirited individuals can come, gather and build community (hence the name, Qmunity). Raul is a big supporter of these issues and thus he was keen on showcasing Stack the Rack.

This was just a teaser event. A huge night is coming up for food + wine lovers who want to support a great community outreach and cause. Stack the Rack‘s real event will be on October 3rd, again at ensemble. Basically picture the same style of event but bigger, better, and with wine shopping! Taste + shop: it’s a great combo.

Thanks to Marc Smith from Amuse Consulting I was invited to the media preview for the main event for Stack The Rack. Queer-focused events are important to me and as I was teaching and couldn’t make it to the event I sent Jessica on my behalf to cover for Hummingbird604.com. We were neither paid nor otherwise compensated for this post.
