Vancouver International Tap Dancing Festival (giveaway!)
Let’s admit it–we all secretly think that tap dancing is awesome. And modern tap dancing, which fuses elements of hip hop, jazz and contemporary dance, is even more awesome. And since Raul used to be a professional dancer, he loves to promote the different dancing events in the city.
Vancouver has the luck to host a yearly tap dancing festival, organized by the Vancouver Tap Dance Society. Although the festival itself is mostly about tap dancing classes for youth and adults, there are also three performances open to the public on the three days of the festival.
One Hummingbird604 reader will have to chance to win a pair of tickets to the opening performance of the festival on September 2nd at the Vancouver Playhouse. Here’s a description of the show:
This year Tap superstar Jason Samuels Smith and his renowned company A.C.G.I. (Anybody Can Get It) are bringing a dynamic presentation to Vancouver, a special performance at our growing international festival. Accompanied by superlative live music, the company’s performance will showcase Samuels Smith’s intricate rhythms and original style, while also featuring a troupe of talented Tap soloists: Chloe Arnold, Lee Howard, Sarah Reich and Melinda Sullivan in an imaginatively choreographed frenzy of movement and sound.
Tap dancing AND live music? How could it be better? If you love tap dancing or are just curious about it, you should enter our giveaway and get a chance to see this special performance by one of the best contemporary tap dancing companies.

I have to go with Gregory Hines.
Shirley Temple all the way!
Gene Kelly. I’ve loved tap dancing since I was a kid.
Always wanted to take lessons. Couldn’t as a kid because of economics, can’t as an adult, because of foot problems…..
I really love all the old movies with tap dancing, they are tasty and familiar, like comfort food for my soul. But treating my neighbour, a retired tap dance teacher, to a show that would knock her taps off, would be the best reason I can think of for wanting to see the show.
MATT FLINT – the winner of- So You Think You Can Dance!
Gene Kelly – still amazing all these years later!
MATT FLINT – the winner of – So You Think You Can Dance!
Been watching some amazing dancing – including tap with my daughter on So You Think You Can Dance as well – very talented young men and women! This would be an entertaining night out!
I would like to see the show because I used to be a dancer and tap is a style I never really specialized in, but always had such a hold on me with its rhythmic focus, creating beats with your feet. Tappers are the rappers of dance and I love both!
Would love to see a show in which two artistic mediums are combined: live music and tap!
i like Riverdance…does that count?!
Gene Kelly tap dancing on rollerskates!
UPDATE – the winner is Eileen – congratulations! I’ve already emailed you and the publicist to ensure you get your tickets.
