Jenna Grant’s Concordia Retail gift package giveaway
During the month of June, artist and student Jenna Grant is gathering work by a variety of local artists and entrepreneurs as she takes over the Rize pop-up retail space at Broadway and Kingsway. She is calling the collection of locally made products Concordia. Jenna came up with this concept to help bridge the gap between local artists and consumers.
She has put together a little gift basket which includes a variety of products from the store, each made by a different local artist. The gift basket includes:
- Greeting cards by Wendy Deakins
- “Fuglies” stuffed toy by Suzanne Saint-Pierre
- Matchbox and soy teacup candle by Jenna Grant
- “Florarina” scarf made from vintage fabric by Emily Jo Heaps
It’s important to me to support local artists and my community within Mount Pleasant (I live in the area) so I was happy to run this giveaway. To enter all you need to tell me is what you consider is your favorite small gift. For me, an aromatic candle or a little bookmark is more than enough (I’m a rampant consumerist sometimes, but I appreciate the love, not so much the gift). So my question to you is – when you give a small gift, what kind of things do you like to give?
I’ll draw a random winner from all collected responses on the comments section until Tuesday June 28th at 2pm. Good luck everyone!

Oh goodness, I really want to win this amazing package! Hmmm…my favourite small gift? Truly? A big smile and a tiny compliment. And if it’s stuff, then I prefer edible stuff, such as Purdy’s amazing salted caramels with Himalayan rock salt!
I love to give a jar of preserves, a small tin of homemade cookies, or some herbal tea.
I love to get home made treats….cookies, chocolate covered fruit, jams, breads. Made with love and eaten with love 🙂
I love to give home made treats as well. At least that’s something that pretty much anyone will love. You can’t go wrong!
I like to give some nicely wrapped chocolates or jelly beans 🙂
I prefer to give locally made crafts… honestly! they are unique and support local artists, retailers and the local economy.
My favourite gift to give is home canned jams and veggies!
I like to give things from the farmers market like honey, natural bath and beauty products, specialty canned albacore tuna, or my favourite of all time: canned spicy crabapples from Ambercott Acres.
I love to receive a bar of natural home-made soap. They usually smell so good, work well and are given with love.
I love to receive artisan food condiments, like a nice jar of tapanade or caviar. And of course, every girl love flowers (whole trade only)
I love to give and get books and journals!
Usually the gifts I give a small and things I find throught out the year in thrift stores, garage salesetc. – I get them beacuse they have some symbolic meaning about friendship and love and give them when the time is right – rarely when they are expected.
In my eyes, a great gift is a spoken story – preferably humorous, but emotional or thougthful ones are welcome too. It gives me the opportunity to know what someone else has been experiencing, and what a good way to feel reconnected with those you love than my sharing a little bit of intimacy!
