I own a small company called Comiditas and I have to say that my website is too much like home made, I mean, I did it myself with not much help, mostly because I was not able to pay a professional, and I do think this affects me at some point. All the information is there but the website is very simple. So a renovation of my website has been on my to-do list for quite a while now and I have not had a chance to do it. SO this is a great chance if I win!

My best friend and I started a small sandwich shop three months ago called Hubbub. We are doing our best to get the word out about our shop by providing a unique high quality sandwich but word of mouth but can sometimes take a while to gain momentum. I’d like to nominate my mother’s small business, Home Drapery (@HomeDrapery on Twitter, Home Drapery ~ Custom Window Treatments, Bedding and Furniture on Facebook). She has been the the owner/operator for approximately 20 years and she’s based out of Brampton ON. I’ve joined her in the past year and a half and I must admit that both starting up and continuing her online presence has been tough. In between meeting clients, suppliers, getting work done, and managing the everyday tasks of keeping a business running efficiently and professionally, time literally flies away. We’re not at a place where hiring someone to do this is a reasonable option for us, and yet that boost would definitely lift us up onto the next level.

I would like to nominate the non-profit freecycling group Full Circles Ottawa. The webpage needs to be revamped and could be more informative. It would be nice to see the page rotate the events and encompass a lot of what the group is doing.

Full Circles members total 9992 today and hope to reach a memebership of 10,000 members by Canada Day. Although its not a “business” the group offers free items everyday and presents Ottawa’s Really Really Free Market 2x per year.

You can give any reusable item for free or get an item you need for free. As the group operates with little or no capital and does not take public donation I would love to see the web page redone.

I volunteer with this group and I am very proud to say that I am one of the many diverting good reusable items every day from premature recycling and or the landfill.

To date she has no online presence and her advertising has always been “word of mouth”. Lately she’s been talking about having a website. but finds the process intimidating and isn’t really sure how to go about it.
