Grey to Green Art Fence (Gastown)

A lot of people see the Downtown East Side of Vancouver as a downtrodden, derelict neighbourhood. But people like my friend April Smith (AHA Media) do a lot of great work documenting the amazing things that happen in this neighbourhood to revitalize it. One of the projects that I noticed as I was walking on Cordova Street near Main Street was the Grey to Green Art Fence.

My friend Jay Peachy (Jay Peachy Gallery) is one of the featured artists. I went on a quick photowalk and took a few shots, and you can see how art can be a driving force of renewal and healing.

It’s beautiful to see how little things like this collaborative can generate so much beauty in a gentrifying and oft-neglected neighbourhood. Good work to everyone involved in the Grey to Green Art Fence.
