Vancity supporting the WE: Vancouver 12 Manifestos for the City exhibit at Vancouver Art Gallery

I have admired the work of Vancity for years. I even have a Vancity account (although I have had that since I was an MBA student here at UBC, back in the day!). So, I was very pleased to see Vancity supporting the WE: Vancouver. 12 Manifestos for the City at the Vancouver Art Gallery. I’m also very fond of the VAG.

WE: Vancouver – 12 Manifestos for the City will be presented at the Vancouver Art Gallery from February 12 to May 1, 2011. This exhibition examines Vancouver through the extraordinary range of practices, actions and ideas that shape and activate it.

I missed the chance to celebrate with Vancouver Art Gallery and Vancity the Vancity’s Member Day this past April 12th as I had a death in the family. I am, however, very lucky to say that I have 2 pairs of tickets to the Vancouver Art Gallery, courtesy of Vancity, to allow 2 lucky readers an opportunity to see the WE: Vancouver, 12 Manifestos for the City exhibit.

All you have to do is drop a comment on this blog post telling me what your favorite piece of art is. I have a soft spot for the work of Edward Degas, but I am by no means solely an impressionist fan. I will update this post with a mode of entry via Twitter, but I just wanted to make sure that this post went live soon so that my readers can get a chance to visit this wonderful exhibit, and kudos to Vancity for promoting the arts, which have suffered cutbacks in British Columbia for a while now.

I will be drawing a winner on Monday April 25th at 6pm.

Vancity has more than 417,000 members and 59 branches throughout Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Victoria and Squamish and are committed to making a positive impact on the quality of life where their members live and work and beyond.

To only pick one piece is so hard! I suppose I’d choose Salvador Dali’s ROSE painting. I’m a die-hard Dali fan!

I’m very fond of the work of local artist, Arleigh Wood. As for renowned art, Cézanne is a favourite.
