Bah! Humbug! A Staged Reading of A Christmas Carol (theatre)

While just about every theatre company in our fair city of Vancouver (and beyond, as proven by theatre companies beyond Metro Vancouver) knows that I promote theatre on a very regular basis, not everyone reads my blog, to be quite honest. Every so often, I come across stuff that nobody pitches me and that I think it’s worth sharing. As I was leaving the gym this morning, I found a promo for Bah! Humbug! A Staged Reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Since I am a big promoter of anything theatre AND anything that supports Downtown East Side residents, I decided to blog about it. I found out that Bah! Humbug! is being put together by SFU Woodward’s and Vancouver Moving Theatre in association with the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company and in cooperation with the Community Arts Council of Vancouver.

Directed by Max Reimer, and Starring Jay Brazeau, Bah! Humbug! is an adaptation of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, which sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. From the flyer I got at the Mount Pleasant Community Centre:

Produced as a staged reading and musical event, this timeless story continues to speak to us today, especially in light of parallels between the economic disparities of Victorian London and Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. Join a cast of professionals and Downtown East Side community actors in this spiriit-lifting story brought to life with words and song.
