Taboo Revue Variety Burlesque Show (win tickets)
A few months ago, you may remember that I reviewed “Greece does Grease“, a wonderful burlesque show. I am a fan, a supporter and a lover of all forms of arts, and burlesque, I find, is one of the most interesting ones. I have been approached by Screaming Chicken Productions to give away a pair of tickets to a lucky reader for The Taboo Revue Variety Burlesque Show, which is Vancouver’s longest running burlesque show with big production acts including musical numbers, comedy sketches, parodies and striptease. This show could also be compared to Saturday Night Live meets the Muppet Show tailored to an adult audience. We empower our performers and our audience members alike giving them an opportunity to see the world in a different way and to partake in something fun and a little silly. The Taboo Revue really gives our audience the true flavour of who Screaming Chicken is as a society and burlesque troop. All of our performers are volunteers, the proceeds of our shows go back to our society as our mission is to make the performing arts more fun, provocative, empowering and accessible.
The Taboo Revue Variety Burlesque Show takes place on Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4, 2010. Doors at 8:00pm, show starts at 9:00pm. Tickets are $17 plus service charges on Brown Paper Tickets dot Com or $20 at the door. All performances at The WISE Hall in East Vancouver, at 1882 Adanac St, Vancouver, BC V5L 2E5.

Most daring thing I have ever done??? Actually participating in a burlesque dance lesson with Melody Manger (who is part of the Screaming Chicken)….but it was so much fun!!!!! I would LOVE to win tickets to see the show!
One of the most daring things I have ever done is zip lining. Being at the top of a tree and jumping off, flying across a river is adventure for me!
I think the most daring thing I’ve ever done is whitewater rafting, which is particularly frightful considering that I don’t know how to swim.
the most daring thing i have done is…..skinny dip! i wish, i’m too chicken.
other than that it would be zip lining, i wanted to die!
Most daring / stupid thing I’ve done is scramble up a sheer 60-70% grade rock face. About half way up we started to run out of options, and realised that going back down wasn’t going to work either. Saved by a precariously placed (but thankfully secure) shrub. Made it out without injury, and will never ever do that again. Stupid!
The most daring and maybe the most foolhardy feat I have ever accomplished was diving off of the 10 metre board at the Victoria Commonwealth Pool in 2001.
I had just got off the phone with my parents (may they RIP) and was feeling especially emotional. Rather than screaming or crying I climbed up the long ladder of the highest tower of the Olympic-sized pool & flung myself off head-first. It seemed like forever while I hurtled downwards & made the mistake of looking up at the last second.
I saw stars when I finally hit the water totally stunned and sunk like a brick to the floor of the pool. Lucklily, I did not break my neck and slowly rose to the surface to the cheers of my pals who were almost as shocked as I.
Never again.
The most daring thing so far has been whitewater rafting, not being able to swim properly I found it very scary at first but then started to really enjoy it.
Ziplining during the Olympics! (Yes, fine, lame…)
Pretty sure the most daring has been dancing with school children on a grassy hill in the Mathare slums in Nairobi. I was pretty embarrassed for myself…
I was drinking in London at a hostel and they asked my group to do a singing/karaoke contest. They assured us EVERYONE knew this song. No. We didn’t. It was a UK phenomenon that did not reach Canada. We got booed.
I can’t really comment on the most daring thing I’ve done. Late Night, after bars closed, hot man, parking lot. OK, enough clues.
The most daring thing I have ever done is leave to go backpacking bymyself for a year.
