Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2012 (Aug 16-26) #VQFF #Festies

So, what did you think? That because I moved away from Vancouver I wasn’t going to cover the Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2012, which this year takes place from August 16th through the 26th, and which I have consistently covered for the past 6 years? No. Absolutely NOT. OF COURSE I’m going to cover the most expected film festival of the summer. The Vancouver Queer Film Festival folks and yours truly talked a few months back and we arranged things so that you will be able to read coverage of many VQFF films. I already have the logistics nailed down (total pun intended).

This is the 24th Annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival, and the VQFF folks have already lined up a number of amazing movies. One of those I am really looking forward to checking out is Romeos (trailer below). I am really glad that the VQFF decided to up the trans content, and Romeos does seem to offer an amazing portrait of the challenges of being gay as a trans man. Confused yet? Another film I am sad I will miss physically is a documentary by Charlie David (whom I met last year at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival too): Positive Youth, not only because of the subject (youth living courageously with HIV) but also because the cast will be in attendance.
