Joyeux Le Quatorze Juillet! (Happy Bastille Day – La Fête Nationale)

My love for France is undying. If there is a city where I have lived before and where I want to live again (hopefully for an academic position and yes, Sciences Po, I’m talking to you!) is Paris. France is one of those countries that doesn’t seem to require tourist promotion. EVERYONE and their mother wants to go to Paris. All of France is charming and they are celebrating their national holiday today (Bastille Day, or La Fête Nationale).

While it’s not customary for French nationals to be wished “Happy Bastille Day”, I figured I should write about it, particularly as I know that it is celebrated in French enclaves across the Pacific Northwest. Via my good friend Sue Frause I found out that Madison Valley in Seattle will be celebrating all things French. I know that at least in Vancouver, Bistro Pastis, Cafe Regalade and Le Marche St. George all will have events celebrating.
