Mental Health Week 2012 (May 7-13) Canadian Mental Health Association

Because of the work I’ve been doing in the past few years advocating mental health causes, I always keep Mental Health Week on my radar. Organized by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Mental Health Week 2012 takes place next week, May 7 to 13th. As I have noted in previous blog posts, 1 in 5 Canadians will face a mental health issue in their life. Thus it is important to (a) be informed, (b) be generous and kind and (c) participate in events that de-stigmatize mental health.

The theme for Mental Health Week 2012 is “Mental Health For All“. The Canadian Mental Health Association has produced a handy fact sheet with some tips for mental health wellness.

We’re celebrating 61 years of improving people’s understanding of mental health through our annual Mental Health Week, May 7-13, 2012!

CMHA’s Mental Health Week is an annual national event that takes place during the first week in May to encourage people from all walks of life to learn, talk, reflect and engage with others on all issues relating to mental health. This year’s Mental Health Week theme is Mental Health for All. Mental Health Week 2012 will focus on key topics that will help the public have a broader understanding of mental health, including: Kids Have Stress Too!; Resiliency: at Home, at School, and at Work; and Mental Health is Everyone’s Concern. Take a look at the fact sheets in our Understand Mental Health section. Local events and activities are planned in communities across Canada. Find an event near you, or plan your own!
