Matchstick Coffee Roasters (Kingsway and Fraser)
I love the way in which my neighbourhood is flourishing (even if I know that right now there’s a pretty heated and controversial discussion around Broadway and Kingsway, in Mount Pleasant). I had written before about how much we needed a coffee shop or two, that would serve as anchors. We have a few in Mount Pleasant/Riley Park/Little Mountain, and I’ve written about several of them.
The list of local community coffee shops in Mount Pleasant, Riley Park and Little Mountain is growing: The Outpost Cafe, Marche St. George, Coco et Olive, and the most recent addition is now Matchstick Coffee Roasters, on 15th Avenue, near Kingsway and Fraser. What I love the most about Matchstick is how close it is to my house. Also, the decor and the fact that they make each cup of coffee individually.
I had a chance to try it out with my good friends Annemarie Tempelman-Kluit and Gillian Shaw and we all loved it. But while it has wifi, please remember – come, enjoy your coffee/tea and then leave promptly. This is a community cafe, don’t hog the tables!
