Travelling over Christmas
I have always associated Christmas with travelling. In my childhood we would travel from wherever we were living at the time to my grandparents for Christmas. As we grew older and we started leaving the nest, we began travelling back to Mexico from Canada, the US and Spain. There were some Christmas when I wouldn’t spend any time in Mexico (this year, for example, I won’t be visiting Mexico for Christmas). For a few years, my brother and I would travel from Vancouver to Paris or Madrid to spend Christmas with my Mom and my brother. We would settle on Christmas in Paris and New Years in Madrid, for the most part.
For the past few years, I have either travelled to Calgary to spend Christmas with my brother and his family or with my friend Chris and his girlfriend, which I’m doing again this year. I am always surrounded by people who love me and care for me, and that’s one of my many blessings: wherever I travel for Christmas, there’s always someone who loves me waiting for me on the other side.
In Mexico, Spain and most Latin countries, we actually celebrate Christmas Eve dinner, so for those of you who celebrate: Merry Christmas Eve. May your lives be filled with health, love and companionship.
Feliz Navidad.
