Parade of Lost Souls Dance Party 2011
In the theme of Halloween and doing good for the community, this year’s annual Parade of Lost Souls is presented with Public Dreams! The festival runs October 18 – 29, with a party on the 29th at the Maritime Labour Centre – a dance party of spooky festivities and fundraising.
The festival / parade (it kind of crosses borders of definitions) will include workshops including dance lessons, Halloween mask making, and a collective collage for the community that people are welcome to come take part in.
All workshops will take place at the Britannia Community Center.
The heart and soul of the entire festival (pun intended) is the parade itself: Secret Souls Walk.

Tickets: No tickets required, $5 suggested donation
The walks are in partnership with East Van’s Dusty Flower Pot – an artist community that will be designing and performing in alleys along the walk, all in the spirit of Halloween. The event, although it may be a bit spooky, is all-ages up until the dance party starts – which the walk will lead right into.

I’m participating in the workshops and walk this year – looking forwArd to an amazing evening at the Walk of Lost Souls! As a child, our family tradition was to decorate the entire house and hand out candy dressed up in ghoulish costumes.
I’ve learned to embrace Halloween by not just dressing up but assuming the persona of the costume I have chosen. It can make for some fun as you enjoy an alternate personality for an evening.
My Halloween tradition is this: watch lots of scary movies! I’ve already got the ball rolling by re-watching the Scream Quadrilogy.
