I learned recently about the upcoming Ride For Our Future of the youth organization Kids For Climate Action on September 24th, as part of the 350.org Moving Planet international day of action. The Ride for our Future is a youth ride all the way from the Scott Road Skytrain station to the provincial legislature in Victoria, BC. On September 24th, 350.org’s international day of climate action, the youth of BC will be pedaling to the British Columbian government offices to deliver their petition calling for real action on climate change. What I find most exciting about this project is how all of this is moving forward as a youth movement. As someone who teaches young students, I’m really excited about them taking action.

We’re riding for a future with green jobs. We’re riding for better transit and cleaner energy. We’re riding to say no to coal exports, the Enbridge pipeline and more oil tankers off our coast. But most of all, we’re riding to show the commitment of BC’s youth – that we won’t let our government’s inaction today jeopardize our future and the future of generations to come.

Please follow this wonderful youth group’s actions by signing on to the Facebook page and if you can offer encouragement on the route, that would be most amazing.
