Vancouver International Fringe Festival 2011: The Seminar
The Seminar is a play from Poiema Productions out of Edmonton that’s coming to Vancouver for the International Fringe Festival. Written, produced, and starring the girls of Poiema, this original production is sure to push boundaries and comfort zones as it attacks the state of media and marketing. This satire tries to expose the ugly truth behind ugliness. How can someone improve their looks to rise above their own ugliness? Described as an “in-your-face” approach, this play plays around with surgeries and genetics to find beauty. If the possibility to change is available and within reach, why would anyone not take it?
Attention all UGLY PEOPLE: Come join our family and become a new you, a happier you, and an acceptable you. The Seminar gives all you ugly people out there an opportunity to change your lives. Don’t let your genetics define who you are. You can choose a better life when you choose to join our program. A photo speaks a thousand words, and they aren’t about your personality!
This sounds like it’ll be an interesting experimental piece.
