As a part of Vancouver International Fringe Festival 2011’s Onsite Program, Stay Away From My Boat @$$hole will be running at the water below the Alder Bay Bridge on Granville Island. The site-specific performance requires the audience to sit on the bridge and watch the show from above. The theatre company, ITSAZOO Productions has partnered with The Only Animal to make this concept a reality.

ITSAZOO is known for some non-orthodox and wonderful shows in unconventional, open-air locations, but this is their first ever in the open water. SAFMB@ runs along the same lines as the production company: witty, satire, and humour. The press release claims that the inspiration has been found in “silent films, clowns, radio dramas and the apocalypse.” The dramatic story includes the flooding of Vancouver, a mysterious stranger, and times of war. Oh, and the entire thing is lit by flashlights.

Stay Away From My Boat @$$hole offers a showcase of Vancouver’s rising talent including David Benedict Brown (Performer), Colby Wilson (Performer), Sebastian Archibalt (Playwright), Chelsea Haberlin (Director) and Chris Adams (Sound Design). this production was created under the guidance and mentorship of Vancouver’s premier site specific theatre company the Only Animal and was developed as part of The Fringe’s Onsite Program. The show runs September 8-18 and advanced tickets can be purchased through the Vancouver Fringe Festival, check out itsazoo.org for more information.
