Teen Shakespeare: Julius Caesar (Carousel Theatre)

Teen Shakespeare is a camp-like training program for teens aged 13 – 17 to get a great immersion into the world of theatre for 4 weeks during the summer, then perform for another two.

This year the end result will be a performance of Julius Caesar, which runs now until August 13th at the Performance Works Outdoor Stage on Granville Island. The spin, besides being performed by young and emerging actors, is that it is done in a modern retelling fashion.

The show is free, and families are welcome but it should be noted that this is a Shakespearean tragedy. However, do come and expect be blown away by the high quality that this theatre company can produce in a small time with a small cast. A brief summary of Teen Shakespeare: Julius Caesar from the Carousel Theatre website.

“Et tu, Brute?” Shakespeare’s infamous tragedy, in which ambition and power lead to betrayal and murder, comes to the Performance Works Outdoor stage in a modern retelling full of political intrigue. Performed by an ensemble of teen actors from across Metro Vancouver.
