Celebrate Queer Vancouver 2011 and launch of Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2011

I had the chance to attend the launch of Celebrate Queer Vancouver and the Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2011 (as you may remember, I usually cover VQFF every year, and for the past couple of years, I’ve given away tickets and passes to the festival).

It was great to see folks from the City of Vancouver supporting VQFF and the queer community, especially the Mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson, Councillors Andrea Reimer and Ellen Woodsworth and Parks Commissioner Constance Barnes, in addition to a number of other VIP folks and allies of the queer community (including Jay Minter and Brian Webb).

You should totally check out the lineup of events for Celebrate Queer Vancouver and for the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. I was planning to take a holiday in August but given the relevance of Celebrate Queer Vancouver and the fact that from the 11th to the 21st of August we have Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2011 I think I won’t be taking holidays. Hope you can join us in this celebration of acceptance and equality.
