WordCamp Developers 2011 (Vancouver)

Most of you know that all my sites (my research, my consultancy and my personal blog) are all built in the free, content management platform WordPress. While I am not a WordPress guru, I do know enough about it to do some basic tweaking and build a functional, “good enough for my own needs” website from scratch.

Alas, I’m not a developer. When I need something that goes beyond my knowledge, I ask WordPress gurus (a lot of my hacking has been done by J. Karen Parker, for example). And most WordCamps I have attended and spoken at have a heavy focus on people who use WordPress for business, and bloggers, but not a very, very strong focus on developers. But recently I was approached by my friends Vanessa Chu, Morten Rand-Hendriksen and Anny Chih to promote their latest project: WordCamp Developers (which in their inaugural, 2011 version will take place in Vancouver).

I’d like to attend, but alas, I won’t be able to due to being a poor student.

Can I also ask, why do these events typically take place (or start) on weekdays? Doesn’t anyone working Mon-Fri any more? (kind of a rant with NV and other conferences/events etc that seem to happen in the downtown area).
