Mon Petit Choux Cafe & Bakery (Nanaimo, BC)

Mon Petit Choux (Nanaimo, BC)In my last visit to Nanaimo, Chelsea Barr (Destination Nanaimo) invited me for breakfast to Mon Petit Choux Cafe & Bakery, a not-so-little French-themed cafe in downtown Nanaimo (on Commercial Street), just a couple of steps away from the Coast Bastion Inn and the Dorchester Hotel. I was thrilled from the moment I stepped in.

A place to start your day and to savour the taste of an authentically baked French pastry, an answer to your craving for a lunch that is unique, and a take out solution for your fast pace of life. Explore Mon Petit Choux Bakery Cafe where you’ll find all of this and more. [Mon Petit Choux]

Having “petit dejeuner” in a French-themed cafe always reminds me of my time in Paris. Despite the fact that I was supposed to have French-styled breakfast, I preferred to order Canadian bacon and eggs with fresh baguette and house preserves. Absolutely delicious, and while the portions are generous, they’re not overwhelming in size as some of the other brunch places I’ve been to.

The coffee is fantastic, and of course, they had a very broad variety of treats including the very traditional Nanaimo Bar. The Mon Petit Choux Cafe & Bakery is part of the Nanaimo Trail, and soon I’ll get around trying everything there.

Disclosure: My breakfast was paid for by Destination Nanaimo, but I could definitely and easily have paid, as this is a great little cafe, and next time I’m in Nanaimo I’m definitely coming back.
