Happy belated birthday André (@ramcio)
I am a horrible friend. Well, not really, but I am terrible when it comes to scheduling blog posts. So, my good friend André Malan (currently finishing his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at UBC) had a birthday this past January 2nd. And I had in my mind “oh, yes – I will schedule André’s birthday blog post RIGHT after I schedule Chris Walts’ post (as his birthday is January 1st)”. And then I forgot. I totally forgot, despite the fact that I had been corresponding with André via email (he has been instrumental in helping me implement technology tools to my teaching at UBC). And that makes me feel twice as guilty.
So, in lieu of an apologetic email (which you will also get) here is a big, public celebration of your (belated) birthday, my friend. It has been great getting to know you and learning along with you about how I can implement technology, seen through the eyes of one stellar student. You have mentored me in implementing a student-centred view of technological platforms for higher education and I am grateful both for our friendship and for the help you have provided me. And I am sure many of my hundreds of current and past students are grateful too!
Happy belated birthday André!
