Living out of a suitcase for two weeks

While I love traveling, I almost always reach a point where I need to go back to my own apartment, my own bed and my own stuff. This happened to me during my recent writing retreat on Vancouver Island, where I stayed in several fantastic hotels in Victoria, Courtenay, Nanaimo and Parksville (you will hear all about it in the next few weeks). It was nothing short of absolutely fabulous. It was peaceful and allowed me to complete a major project (the first draft of my forthcoming book on water governance). But certainly, after living out of a suitcase for two weeks, I was ready to come home and realize that I have way more clothes than what I had packed. And wake up in my own bed. Ah the contradictions! We want to travel, yet we want the perks of a full set-up house.
