The Helm Boardwalk Empire New Year’s Eve 2010 Party (giveaway)
You may remember that I was a guest of The Helm at their fantastic opening party. I’ve been really impressed with the management team and they’ve been incredibly supportive of me. You may remember they partnered with me for a prize package giveaway that included dinner at The Helm and Christmas on the Air at Pacific Theatre. The Helm will be throwing a fantastic, Boardwalk Empire New Year’s Eve (NYE) Party and kindly have given me a total of 4 tickets to attend this NYE shindig. This promises to be one fantastic night out and you will be able to ring in the New Year in style!

Tickets are only $50 and it includes a 3 course meal canapes/party favors/complimentary champagne at midnight. If regular guests choose to dine AND stay for the late night portion, we will sell them tickets for the late night at a reduced rate of $40 a ticket.. And there will be a lucky reader who will win my 4 tickets (I’ll be giving this prize away as a 4 tickets pack, so you and three friends can party in style).
To enter my giveaway, I want to hear your best memory from a New Year’s Eve. Maybe someone proposed to you on New Years Eve. Maybe, like my good friend Chris Walts, you were BORN on NYE. For me, the best NYE I ever had was in Madrid, with my brother and my Mom, ringing in the year 2002. That year, I had been extremely successful professionally and personally, and we spent Christmas in Paris and New Years Eve in Madrid. So blessed to have my brother and Mom as two of my best friends.

One of my fondest memories of NYE was in Whistler. I was with many good friends, we went out for dinner together then went to a large cabin that was owned by a Whistler local senior and he was partying with everyone all night too! It was a night of laughs, food, great company and wonderful memories.
Best new year’s eve? I actually tend to not have very memorable ones BUT when I was in grade 11 the boy I was crushing on told me I was pretty. That was pretty cool for me. 😛
my best nye memory was probably last year, when i celebrated with some of my closest friends in toronto, before returning to vancouver..
Best New Years Eve was last year when I heard my cousin play with his band. I hadn’t seen my cousin in about 20 years and it was a great reunion and I was impressed with his talent and artistry.
My best New Year’s was last year, filled with bubble and surrounded by good friends and my sister, who had recently returned from volunteering in Peru. She told me about a Peruvian New Year’s tradition that she was excited to try out – wearing different coloured underwear on NYE for luck: yellow for general good luck, green for luck with money, and red for a year lucky in love. That night, I wore red underwear and ended up talking with an long-time (male) friend of mine. We ended up getting together in January we are now about to spend our first Christmas together of many 🙂
He loves the this era and we’ve both been watching the show since it came out. We would both LOVE to go to this party to celebrate another year lucky year!
I was a kid about 8, all the grownups were in the living room celebrating New Years and us kids watched the movie Grease with John Travolta.
I was in the procsss of ummmm, having a good time with a fellow person when the new millenium started. I’m sorry, I can’t get any more specific then that. 😛
When I first met my wife’s family.
My best NYE was when i was 15 years old and went to a dance and then a hotel party and didn’t get home till noon. It was so much fun having the freedom to stay out that late, as we were sleeping over at the cousins house! I felt like a grown up that year.
Last year was my favourite NYE. I spent it with some good friends at my friends place.
My best New Year’s Eve was in 1990 as I was celebrating the fact that I had just moved to Vancouver and started a new life. So I fly to New York City and spent New Year’s Eve at a club called S.O.B.s (Sounds of Brazil) and for $100 you had appetizers from 10 pm to 6 am, all the drinks you wanted including champagne, flamenco dancers, live Spanish salsa band and the DJ played world, raggae and European disco music. The crowd ranged from age 25 to 60 and everyone was from all over the world and very friendly and all glamed up. Everyone thought I was a regular as the waiters kept dancing with me. I would say this was the best NYE party I’ve been to bar none.

I was at a party in Chinatown in the early 90’s. I don’t remember a lot of the details and the parts I do remember are private.
It would have to be dressing up as a school girl for Sin City and seeing over half the attendees decked out in nothing more than fancy lingerie … fun times! 😉
My friend had an 80’s themed new year’s party one year. We had lots of Madonna look-alikes. It was totally awesome.
We convinced a limo driver, who was waiting for his group outside the club we were at, to give us a quick lift to Granville St. He obliged and when we climbed in the back, we found bottles and bottles of alcohol. Thinking the party wouldn’t miss one bottle, we pocketed a bottle of Crown Royal, thanked the driver and ran off. Of course, decency crept in and we soon felt bad for our theft. So walking down Granville St., we saw two homeless people curled up on the sidewalk. We handed them the bottle, said ‘Happy New Year’ and wiped our conscience clean (well, almost).
