I am having lunch with a good friend of mine this coming week and I have NO CLUE as to where to have lunch that is within 3-5 blocks of a Canada Line (Richmond-Brighouse and all the Richmond-based Canada Line stations). I have a very large readership based out of the Lower Mainland. Please help! Leave your recommendations, please (do not just tweet them!).

go to aberdeen mall at the aberdeen stop along the canada line. plenty of places to choose at aberdeen. that’s my usual go-to solution. :)

The hole in the wall places are actually behind #3 road. What kind of food are you into? There’s a good selection of authentic Chinese food along the Canada Line. You can try Shanghaiese food, Korean BBQ, hot spicy Sichuan cuisine or Vietnamese Pho. On a rainy day like this i would recommend a nice bowl of beef noodle soup by the Chinese restaurant next to Starbucks on Ackryod st. I don’t even know the English name of the place cuz its so Chinese la!

It depends on the kind of food you want. A good bet is Aberdeen Centre, which is half a block off No 3 on Cambie. Alexandria Road, which is a block before Alderbridge, is loaded with tons of great restaurants too.

+1 more for Aberdeen, with the specific recommendation of Guu there, though. It is merely my favorite of several worthy options, both sit-down and food fair.

Brighouse stop. Walk down to No. 3Rd. & Westminster Highway. Walk up the flight of stairs behind the TD Bank. Next to London Drugs are Charcoal, a great Japanese restaurant with many many specialty rolls, and my favourite dim sum place, Empire Seafood.

There is a FANTASTIC Japanese place, Sakura Sushi (www.sakurasushi.ca) fairly close to Brighouse. Its a tiny tiny place but its the best sushi place in that part of Richmond.

If you’re in the mood for some grease. There’s a pretty good greasy spoon by the name of Bob’s Sub, literally next door to Sakura.

There’s a Tropika (Malaysian) in Aberdeen Centre, a Thai House across the street from Lansdowne mall, and there’s a little Vietnamese place by the name of Hue Cafe about 2 blocks south of Brighouse which has some fairly decent Vietnamese subs and pho.

I agree with everyone who’s suggested Aberdeen Centre. There are great sit-down restaurants or check out their food court, which completely redefines what you’d usually think of “food court dining.” I have a few favourite spots if you do decide to visit Aberdeen.

Also surprised nobody’s mentioned Alexandra Road, which is Richmond’s “Food Street”. There are 200+ Asian restaurants along the three blocks of Alexandra Road, which is about a 5 minute walk from Lansdowne Canada Line Station. Try Jade Seafood Restaurant for dim-sum (must have dish: mushroom dumpling!) or Cattle Cafe for a funky Hong Kong style cafe…the list goes on!

I also really like Dinesty Chinese Restaurant & Suhang, both of which are within 5 minutes of Lansdowne Station (and within 2 minute of my office, so you may see me there!)

I’m including links to some useful docs – hope they help!

As long as I’m hungry whatever place I got along the Canada line I enjoy eating with every bite of mine. I love eating and it is my passion thats why I gained a lot of weight I am not choosy when it comes to food as long as it is delicious and healthy I’ll go with it.

Thanks all! Jen Watkiss (World Wide Watercooler) and I went with Charcoal. I’ll have to try all your other suggestions next time!
