Win dinner @SeasonsInQEPark and White Christmas @TheArtsClub #hb604xmas
You may have noticed that I’m doing a few fabulous giveaways this holiday season. The second one of my Christmas (well, let’s face it, I was raised Catholic, so I *do* celebrate Christmas) giveaways is a gift certificate for dinner for two at the wonderfully amazing Seasons in the Park (at Queen Elizabeth Park) and immediately after, the almost sold-out show White Christmas at the Stanley Industrial Alliance, produced by The Arts Club.
Based upon the Paramount Pictures film written for the screen by Norman Krasna, Norman Panama, and Melvin Frank, with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin Book by David Ives and Paul Blake, this tap-dancing delight brims with tunes—including “Blue Skies,” “Sisters,” and the ever-popular “White Christmas”—that will fill you with the joy of the season.
I had wanted to have dinner at Seasons in the Park at the Queen Elizabeth Park ever since I moved to Canada. This year, I finally went to Seasons as the wedding of one of my absolute best friends was there. Amazing service, beautiful location and stunning, breath-taking view. And the food… oh my, the food. You need to experience it for yourself. You can make reservations at 604.874.8008m. Located at Cambie St & W 33rd Ave in Vancouver, BC, Seasons’ hours are Monday – Saturday from 11:30am and Sunday from 10:30am.
Enjoy Vancouver’s best panoramic view from every seat in the house, along with award-winning cuisine and exceptional service.
For a chance to win this great package (dinner for two on Friday December 17th at 5:30pm, and tickets for two for the Friday December 17th performance of White Christmas, at 8pm), please drop a comment on this blog post and tell me what makes the person you would like to enjoy this package with so special. It can be a friend, your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse, your Mom, Dad. Whoever you would like to take to Seasons in the Park for dinner and then enjoy White Christmas, tell me – what makes them so special in your life?
I will draw a random winner from all entries up until December 14th, 2010 at 7pm (opening night of White Christmas for media is that Wednesday and I will be asking JT to draw the winner). Comments on this post count as ONE entry, and if in addition to commenting on this post you post the sample tweet below, I will count it as an ADDITIONAL entry, e.g. you can earn up to two entries in total, the first one by commenting and the second one by tweeting about the giveaway.
Entered to win dinner @SeasonsInQEPark & White Christmas tix @TheArtsClub from @hummingbird604 #hb604xmas http://is.gd/i9Mne – you can too!
You can follow Seasons in The Park on Twitter as well as The Arts Club. They are both two fantastic organizations and steadfast supporters of mine, and I am delighted and grateful that they have partnered with me with this holiday giveaway. Enjoy!

I would take my new husband. He’s special to me in countless ways but what stands out the most is that he’s my rock
I would take my fiance to dinner and the play. He is so special to me because he has be supportive to me throughout some rough times over the past few years and he is always someone I can talk to about anything. He makes me laugh and we enjoy each other’s company, which is why I would love to spend the evening with him at Season’s then off to a White Christmas to get in the holiday spirit!
I would take my lovely girlfriend Theresa – we rarely have the opportunity to just sit back, watch and enjoy theatre since we’re usually so busy running around trying to make theatre happen. Even less frequent are we able to have a nice sit down dinner — both the tickets and dinner would be a welcome romantic evening out for us
I’ll throw my hat in the ring and say I’d take my husband/babydaddy. We used to go out on “date nights” all the time, but pregnancy has been rough. He’s been such a champ and so supportive through it all, he definitely deserves a nice night out.

The person i want to share this with is a very good friend who has helped me a lot, most recently helping me move and always there to lend an ear to my troubles.
I would take my sister. She was SO supportive of me when I decided to follow my dreams and it felt like no one else had my back. It would feel really special to give something like this to her, and show her how much I appreciate her encouragement.
I would like to share this experience with my boyfriend. It will be a great 3rd year anniversary date night out! He always cares about me and makes me laugh.
Oh please, please, please, please, please let me win, Santa! I promise to respect my anti-inflammatory diet even at Seasons. I will arrive early instead of one minute after. I will sing every number at the show only silently.
I would take Sam because he is a self-declared genius.
I would take my friend to this with. She has been a good friend to me since I moved here to BC from Calgary. This is a way I could thank her.
I would love to go out with my dear husband. He has taken a LOT of time off of work (a year) to support me in caring for our newborn and toddler. He is always self-sacrificing and rarely does anything for himself. This would be a wonderful treat for him…he is also a foodie and I know Seasons would be a big hit with him!
My partner Charlie makes coming home from work a special treat everyday.
I would take a girlfriend Christianne because she has had a tough year, having had her full time job as a French teacher in High School changed so that now she teaches French, Spanish and Social Studies. Friday nights seems to be the only time she has to “play” as the rest of the time she has to prepare for class and mark papers. And now with teaching three subjects, she is three times more stressed. She also tells me of the difficulties she has with dealing with teenagers day in and day out so she definitely needs a night out!
I would love to take my boyfriend because he’s had a hard time this year and I love him so. He’s self-sufficient, trying to go to school and pay for everything. He’s a hardworker, patient, and a wonderful boyfriend. This would really help us celebrate Christmas without being so hard on our starving student lifestyles. Also, December 10th is our 3 years and 5 monthsary! This would be a perfect way to end this year =)
Thanks, Raul.

I would take my new friend and work collegue to the show. She’s positive about every aspect of life and deserves a nice dinner and theatre night out!
I’d take my mom, it’s been a rough year for her, and this would be a great little treat for her. I know she loves seasons, but we haven’t had the chance to go in years. I think she’d love it. =D
I would take my boyfriend, I know so cliche but he is in Vancouver for the very first time from England. He is absolutely amazing and took me to see Phantom of the Opera in London, he loves musicals and the Arts and I love ARTS Club productions. Sharing something special with someone you love is the best Christmas gift of all!
I would take my boyfriend out as we rarely get a chance to dine out in a nice restaurant and enjoy something with just the two of us. He’s someone that has made a huge difference in my life since we’ve been together and taught me that spending quality time means not being connected the online world.
I would take my mom! I was born on Christmas day and owe her a special night to make up for that one! My mom is amazing and has immense grace under immense pressure. She is Christmas to me!

I would take my wife. We got married at seasons in the park restaurant 7 years ago but have not been back. Would love to surprise her.
I would love to take my Mum to dinner and a show because she’s always supporting me. This past year our dog died, her mother had a heartattack and she lost her job. Throughout all this she’s been nothing but amazing at supporting me through my first year of university but, being a poor student, I haven’t been able to repay her. This would be a really nice way to say thank you.
I would love to take my boyfriend to try Seasons In the Park. I’ve great things about this restaurant. He is also a great cook and it would be lovely for him to taste some amazing food at this restaurant!
I would take my sweetie.
I would bring my older sister with me to see for this great night out. She remains a very generous and giving person even though she has been negatively affected by the economic downturn and has been experiencing a difficult time for the past few years.

So, I won’t try, but suffice it to say I’d take my Mom and know that we’d both have a wonderful time.
I would take my young friend Jonny diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer at age 35 … she just reached the five year mark for being ‘breast cancer free’! And to top it off, she just received her permanent Green Card, good for 10 years!

Would love to take my dear mom for an evening out! What’s better than moms, great food, and a musical?!
Being the broke student that I am, I don’t really go out that much. I’d love to treat my girlfriend to this, especially after all the support she has given me during a rough patch I was going through.

I would take my best friend who I have known for 32 years and who I can never thank enough: my husband.
The person I’d share this with has stood beside me and believes in me, no matter what path I decide to follow.
I would love to take is my mom. She’s a very giving person, always putting others before herself first. I’d actually probably give the tickets for both my mom and dad to enjoy a special night out because they are both very special people who always give more to others and leave no time for themselves.

I would take a close friend whom I’ve known since elementary school. We used to watch the Bing Crosby “White Christmas” every Christmas holiday together on sleepovers and sing along with the movie.
I would take my little sister. She is my rock. She has so much wisdom even though she’s 7 years younger than me. I love to spend time with her, especially during the holiday season.
I would take my husband.

Well, I’d love to take my boyfriend to this! What makes him special… Well, a lot of things. I truly admire and appreciate how sensitive and strong he is. Although he is in touch with his emotions and very empathetic to others, he is also very strong, sturdy, and stable. To me, this is the most rare and lovely combination of character traits. He is always so good to me and I’d love to take him out for a special night. Keep the contests coming!

I would take my best friend, Mark, who’s been there for me through some of the stupidest trials a person can endure. Any guy who comes over at the end of a cockroach infestation, pulls out your fridge and says “You don’t need to see this, stay away” and cleans it all for you, so you can keep living there in ignorance…
That’s a friend. And I’m blessed. He LOVES the theatre, and there’s so little I can do to repay how kind he’s been, so I’d love this. Thanks for the contests, Raul!

I moved out 3 years ago, and ever since, my Mom has been incredible with helping me. I feel like I’ve given so little back to her and this would certainly help do that. My mom is the best!
I would enjoy this with my mother. She is truly my best friend and the wisest person I know. She is my biggest supporter and is always there for me.

I would like to take my mom. She’s given me life and then saved it twice by taking care of me when I was in need. She is my earth angel.
I would take my new partner. She has been soo good to me over the past month when I was dealing with some things and I am so greatful. She cannot afford to go home for Christmas this year and so I am also staying in Vancouver to celebrate the hoidays with her and show her just how much she means to me.
I’d take the bf – he lives with my many faults and still adores me, for that I’m grateful.
Never been before. My lady friend would be excited to try it.
I would like to take my mom as she’s done so much for me.

I would love to take my best friend Reena, who I met a couple of years ago. She has inspired me to become a better, and stronger person. She is one of my role models and I look up to her everyday. I used to be a really shy person, but she has brought out the energizing side of me. She spoils me just as much as she spoils her boyfriend. We hang out so much that I think her boyfriend gets jealous! Being able to win this and to treat her only shows a small handful of gratitude I have towards her.. nothing I do can compare to the amount of love and caring she has given me over the years, regardless of any downfalls she may encounter. She always puts others before her, and for that I admire.
My hard working New Zealander husband would be the person I would take to experience the White Christmas musical. He’s been studying hard for a very compressed program at BCIT and his last day is Friday, December 17th. He’s so focused on school he hasn’t had one wink of holiday cheer. I would love to whisk him away for a lovely festive evening and help him get launched into the Christmas spirit!
I would take my friend Riki cuz she’s so inspiring & loves to have fun! The perfect date for a single gal like myself!
I would take my older brother to the show. He has essentially been the father figure in my life since my teenage years and he’s one of my biggest role models. I’m leaving to work in Alberta next month and this would be a great way to remember this winter holidays before I move away.
UPDATE – The winner of my contest (drawn from all entries via Random.org) was Gwen. Congratulations!
