Vancouver Art Gallery – The Gallery Cafe (Downtown Vancouver)

Vancouver Art Gallery CafeRecently, I had to chat with Jeff Meerman (from TD Canada Trust) about a couple of things associated with my social media work and he invited me for lunch to the Vancouver Art Gallery (The Gallery Cafe). I had tried to visit The Gallery Cafe previously with my friend J. Karen Parker, and I didn’t get a chance to do so, but this time, I finally got to visit. And I’m glad I did. I ordered a Greek orzo salad with chicken and an Indian curry soup, both of which were extremely tasty but also extremely filling. In particular, I found the Greek orzo salad a meal in and of itself. I probably could have done away without the Indian curry soup (tasty, spicy but it had celery and I hate celery).

I thought it was a well-kept secret (e.g. the existence of The Gallery Cafe) but seeing as we found an incredible amount of people lining up for lunch, I would say the secret is out. And I’m glad it is, because I will definitely come back to The Gallery Cafe for lunch. Particularly because they carry Cyoni orange juice!

One of my fave places to eat in the City especially in the summer! I only wish it were open in the evenings. Such a glorious spot, very European.

I love this place (and it’s good to see you there, too). The food is tasty and reasonably priced, the coffee is good, the patio is a great place to hang out on during the warmer months, and I particularly appreciate the classical music piped in on the speakers.

The only thing I always think is weird is a sign they have by the napkin dispenser that reads: “Take as Many As You Like, and Support the BC Forest Industry”. While I don’t have anything against the forestry workers, pulp mills and such, I’m not sure that encouraging waste is a good way to support them, not to mention the extra garbage, energy used to produce them.
