Simple Soda (giveaway)
I will fully admit that I love soft drinks. There, I said it. The guilt that I feel from consuming coffee (whose production consumes up to 140 litres of water) goes down substantially when I actually switch to soda pop. And I’m continuously looking for alternatives to mainstream soda beverages, preferably locally-produced and sourced.
So when I was alerted to the forthcoming launch of Simple Soda, a beverage that is local to Vancouver, and that follows the “less is more” philosophy, I wanted to share it with my readers. The kind folks of Simple Beverages were kind enough to give me 2 mixed cases to give away to 2 readers of mine.
I wanted to learn more about Simple Soda, for several reasons: it’s a soft-drinks company (and I used to work, at some point during my chemical engineering career, in the soft drinks industry). It’s local, and the vision behind it is to brew the drinks in small batches (I’d say almost made-to-order). I have to admit, I like that way of thinking about it.
There are four flavours of Simple Soda: Rootbeer, Vanilla Cream, Orange Cream and Black Cherry. I can tell you right now I’m probably going to sample Black Cherry first (I don’t understand why, but I have never been a rootbeer drinker).
To enter the giveaway, simply drop a comment on this post mentioning how frequently you drink pop. I will fully admit that I’ll probably have at least one can of pop with dinner almost every day. It’s sort of my guilty pleasure. I will draw 2 random winners from all entries on Monday November 1st at 2:30pm.
Disclosure: The 2 cases of Simple Soda beverages to give away to my readers were generously sponsored by Simple Beverages. I have been offered a few samples to try out, but I’m not obligated to review them or write about them. In any review I write or publish on my site, I retain editorial control at all times. Should you have any questions/concern feel free to contact me via e-mail through my contact form.

I think I drink pop once a month maybe. Occasionally I will get on a pop kick and drink one everyday but mostly I find them to be too much.
Big pop drinker – love to drink from my SodaStream.
I used to drink it daily but lately i have cut back to maybe once a week but i do love pop!!!
I used to drink pop a couple times a day and more on weekends, but I don’t drink it as much anymore. I’m more of a coffee drinker these days which, admittedly, really isn’t any better. I probably have about 3 sodas a week, give or take… more if I don’t get my coffee.
Each week, I drink one or two. It’s usually root beer(!) which is my favourite pop. Wouldn’t turn down cream soda either π
I probably drink pop twice a week… Unless you count mix…
This pop looks so yummy! I like to have pop a few times a week. But crave it most when I eat comfort food, like macaroni and cheese or pizza.
I go through phases of drinking loads of pop and then not … I do love it though! It’s great to find local alternatives, I love trying new things and this looks like a good one! The root beer one and vanilla cream intrigues me the most!
Mmmmmm. Black Cherry. I don’t drink soda as often as I might, partly because I hate the idea of buying from a meganational. So I LOVE the idea of Simple Soda – local and small!
If I’m driving, it’s one beer or no beers and then pop. So I generally have about 5 or 6 sodas per week – all in the bar. With kids around, we don’t drink much at home except for birthday parties etc. We’d put a case to excellent use and get an excellent sample of reviews!
Mmmmm. Black cherry. Love the idea of local and small pop maker! Would definitely drink more pop if I wasn’t just buying from a multinational. Right now we don’t buy pop for home because we don’t like supporting coke (and don’t like pepsi). We sometimes get noname but quality is problem. We like Jones sometimes when it’s on sale.
I drink pop mostly at the bar when I’m driving. So 3-6 pops a week.
I only drink pop when I’m eating pizza, pretty much as a rule, which is a couple of times a month.
I don’t drink pop as nearly as I used to, but ever now and then I do crave a frosty mug of root beer. I might drink pop 2-3 times a month these days, although as a kid growing up, we always had a 2 litre of something in the fridge. But this Simple Soda stuff sounds divine. Have I mentioned I’m a sucker for Vanilla Cream? π π
Raul, I drink pop…perhaps once a week? I try to avoid it as it is detrimental to my getting in shape plans.
Both me and my 2 kids are big fans of pop!! We would love to try this one!
I just never ever have pop….in Canada. For some reason, every time I go to Brazil I get into a pop frenzy and have it with every meal. Maybe it just takes the right pop for me to “import” the habit…
I only drink pop when my blood sugar is low – having type 1 diabetes makes it so that I can’t otherwise. But I’m a sucker for rootbeer and cream soda. Mmmm!
I love pop. Unfortunately, because of dietary restrictions, I must limit myself to the ‘diet’ sort. Probably have it once a week!
I’ve been buying these at Urban Fare for the last couple of months. Very yum! Love to support the local guys π
I have pop a few times a week, had it tonight with dinner! I enjoy the more “natural” pops, they have much more flavour than the mass commercial brands…not mentioning any names π
love this drink… the urban fare display was amazing…
I have tried the four flavours, enjoyed them all and, however, as I am a sucker for Root Beer, I have had that the most
I used to drink pop on a daily basis, but now it’s down to once or twice a week – I’d like to say I switched to water, but now I’m drinking fruit juice like there is no end in sight.
I make my own by mixing apple juice with Safeway Refreshe fizzy water, but I can’t resist A&W Root beer about once a month.
Pop isn’t really my thing because I usually find it too sweet. If I am going to drink it, it has to be mixed with something alcoholic. Preferably rum … root beer and dark rum, life doesn’t get much better than that π
Simple soda – what a great idea! Great concept, trendy design. I drink pop once every few days.
I used to drink pop daily but have cut back to a couple a month over the past year now. The High Fructose Corn Syrup in national mega brands has turned me away from my old pop habits. I now enjoy the simpler and natural alternatives to the big names in the pop industry….looking forward to trying this BC alternative.
i very rarely drink pop…but if and when i do, i think i`d go with simple soda vanilla cream π
I love root beer !! I think i drink 3 to 4 a week . I havent tried this pop but Im sure I would like it .
I drink soda pop only when I need a mix for alcohol.
Grey Goose and Simple Soda has a nice ring to it.
Used to be more often. Still remember being able to blind taste the Pepsi Challenge with 100% accuracy, including throwing ‘new’ Coke, AND coke classic into the mix (I’m a coke zero drinker btw). Have reduced my intake to probably one a week over this past summer. This is down from a few times a week, ugh.
forgot to say I’d be happy to try Simple Soda, Love trying new products!
I only drink pop occasionally. I especially like Orange Crush.
Love the Original Coke (with sugar! not syrup) but know my pre-diabetic predisposition is not good with that, so I have cut down drastically. Really digging the more natural sodas too, but switching to more water (yes, 8 cups!) and tea. Coffee is also sliding as a favorite beverage pastime.
