Greece Does Greece (win tickets, theatre)

I love a good burlesque show, but when it’s combined with “Grease” (the movie that propelled Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta to international stardom), I just can’t miss it. And while tonight is opening night, I have asked the producers if they can sponsor a giveaway for another night, and they have been amazingly kind to accommodate my request. So I am giving away a pair of tickets for the Saturday October 9th, 2010 show of Greece Does Greece. From the press release: “Created by Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society, Greece Does Grease is an original feature production filled with bawdy humour, heart stopping dance and wickedly fun live music.” This sounds like a lot of fun!

Inspired by the burlesque musicals of the 19th century when women shocked the world by appearing as scantily clad sexual aggressors in satires of the popular theatre of the time, Greece Does Grease tells the ancient story of the seasons through parodies of the music of Grease and Grease 2.
Persephone had a normal life, her days and nights filled with war, orgies and drunken revelry. It was enough for the other gods on Olympus but not for her, she wanted more: something more dangerous. She didn’t expect to find it singing and dancing in a glade with the Nymphs but it finds her and she is spirited away to the Underworld by Hades. Then all hell breaks loose.
