Mission accomplished at #smcv10 Social Media Camp Victoria 2010

This past week has been incredibly challenging but also amazing in many ways. My goal coming into Social Media Camp Victoria 2010 was to give a talk on how we can model the online behavior of networks of transnational environmental activists. It was important for me to be seen as the academic and not the social media superstar. It was important that people saw me live speaking about world phenomena and trying to explain them using theory and empirical methods. I feel I succeeded.

I may still hold the Hummingbird604 aura around me, but I believe that now people will see that I am primarily, first and foremost, an academic who likes to do rigorous research to explain changes in environmental policy making across nations. And it was amazing to receive feedback and have so many good questions asked at my talk. The reception was great and the feedback amazing.

Thanks again everyone who came to my talk. It was absolutely delightful. And thanks to Janni Aragon for amazing moderation. You all rock.

I barely got to talk with you. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen again. ;)

See you eventually enough!

Great to see that you are actively promoting Vancouver tourism. We do atv rental in the Lower Mainland so hopefully we can chat about getting something featured on your site???
