The Road to Port Hardy Charity Bike Ride

frans jonker I have always felt very warmly welcome by the social media community in Victoria, British Columbia. For some reason, I have connected extremely well with them. I met Frans Jonker, a Victoria resident, in one of my trips. Frans will embark on The Road to Port Hardy” Charity Bike Ride – a 4 day, 525km, completely unsupported, solo bike ride from Victoria to Port Hardy, in support of The BC Cancer Foundation. I myself have Blogathoned for BC Cancer, so I am keenly supportive of anything that has to do with cancer awareness and treatment. Frans will traverse his trusty 15 year old steel Marin Mountain Bike over 525kms of Vancouver Island’s mountainous Island Highway.

With over 15,000 feet of elevation gain, this ride will be completely unsupported, and Frans will be completely on his own, should anything go wrong with his machine! Hopefully, nothing will go wrong.

The bike ride that Frans will undertake will have the following schedule:

Monday Aug 16th 8am Mile Zero, Victoria BC – departure for Qualicum Beach
Tuesday Aug 17th Qualicum Beach to Campbell River
Wednesday Aug 18th Campbell River to Woss
Thursday Aug 19th Woss to Port Hardy
