Illuminares 2010 at W2 Storyeum

illuminaresposterwebI am a big fan of Public Dreams Society. When I first moved to Vancouver (and to Canada) the first-ever public event I attended was the Parade of Lost Souls (also put together by PDS). Ever since, I fell in love with the idea (the PLS resembles a lot a parade in Mexico associated with the Dia de los Muertos). I also love Illuminares, which in its 2010 edition will take place at W2 Storyeum. I am copying below the information I found on the Facebook page of Public Dreams Society (why on the planet do they publish this information on Facebook rather than on their own website is beyond me).

We are just weeks away from the Illuminares Lantern Procession. This year Public Dreams has partnered with W2 and will be transforming their 31,000 sq. ft. Storyeum space with live interactive performances and all NEW art installations created by both local artists and members of the community. Located at 151 E Cordova St, W2-Storyeum is WALK, BIKE, TRANSIT and CAR friendly. There will be a Bike Valet available on site OR use Translink (enter 151 E Cordova St, Vancouver) OR Easypark Parkade located off Cordova St and Water St. for a $7.00 flat rate on Saturday, July 24th. The event runs from 4pm-10pm and as always is FREE. We hope to see you there

I do hope I will be able to make it, and I encourage you to do so too. Also, I’m not sure if PDS accepts donations, but I read this article from The Georgia Straight mentioning that they had budget cuts, and given how awesome these processions are, I would encourage you (if PDS accepts the donations) to donate.
