When I first entered the social media community, I insisted left, right and center that I wasn’t “in tech”. I happen to be a power user of social media, but I think of myself as an academic, first and foremost. My good friend Jordan Behan (who is married to the lovely Alex Lee-Behan, also a good friend of mine) has been one of the key people who have kept me connected to the tech community, someone who has been able to understand my dual identity (as a social media power user and as an academic) and someone with whom I share many interests, building a strong online community being one of them.
