Yaletown’s block party for Canada Day and best burger competition
On July 1st, the 1200 block of Hamilton Street will host a block party for Canada Day. In the afternoon, Erin Ireland, John Chow, Richard Wolak and myself will be the celebrity judges for a fantastic event, “Yaletown’s Best Burger” – although for bacon lovers like me, it’s a bit sad to know that there will be no pork in any of the burgers. That said, I am pretty sure it will be a fun event and I look forward to it. It’s always fun to attend these events.
I also look forward to hanging out with Erin, John and Richard, seeing many of you there. This will take place from 4:00-5:30pm at the 1200 block of Hamilton Street, and the participant restaurants include some of my own favorites.
- SOCIETY Dining Lounge
- Earls Yaletown
- BBQues
- The Hamilton Street Grill
- Section 3
- The Hub Restaurant
- Glowbal Grill

Man, that list of restaurants sounds more like a popularity contest rather than a true quest for the best burger in Vancouver… Ooopppsss… Yaletown only? Wonder… Hmmmmm….
If you like good – and I do mean good, down to earth – burgers, these fancy places/neighbourhoods aren’t the places you should be looking for. I dare you go to Burger Burger in New West and try their burger prior to the competition. It is cheap, not fancy in any way but will take you back to the roots of what that meat patty on a bun should be.
