Gorilla Food (Downtown Vancouver)
Gorilla Food is located exactly 45 steps away from my office at The Network Hub. I’ve had a desk there for over 2 years. You would think I would have visited Gorilla Food MUCH earlier than I did. Well, no, I hadn’t. Worse off? I am a specialist in environmental affairs. I, of anyone, should be aware of where I can find raw, vegan, low-carbon-and-ecological footprint food. And I was fully aware, but hadn’t tried it yet.
So, when my good friend Chris Walts and I finally had a chance to try it, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I had heard great things. I ordered a GO Veggie Burger (a stack of two veggie burger patties thickly topped with guacamole, fresh tomato slices, cucumber slices, shredded seasonal veggies and a ginger-tomato ketchup, served in a lettuce leaf bun). I forgot that it didn’t have an actual bun!
As far as flavors go, I really loved the burger. But come to think about it, next time I’ll order what Chris ordered – a Falafel Wrap ($7.50), which is made of romaine lettuce wrap filled with spicy seed and veggie falafel balls on a bed of zucchini hummus and topped with a seasoned tahini sauce and grainless tabouli. Overall, I really liked the food at Gorilla, and I would totally will come back at some point.
