I met Jeremy Latham through the online world, particularly as he was one of the first people who read my blog and he was already good friends with many of those who would (in time) become some of my very good friends (including Rebecca and John Bollwitt, Jordan Behan, etc.) We met a few months later at one of the WordCamps and we’ve been very good friends ever since. While he lives in Campbell River and thus I don’t get a chance to hang out with him often, I do cherish our friendship.

Jeremy shares his birthday with another of my very good friends, Dr. Alexandra Samuel (yes, I know you don’t like the PhD thingie attached to your name, but heck, it was a lot of work for me to get my PhD and I imagine it was too for you!). A fantastic thinker, efficient multitasker (I don’t know how she manages to be Mom, wife to Rob Cottingham AND all the consulting, research and writing stuff that she accomplishes). Must learn these tricks. Alex’s thinking and provocative ideas have helped me shape how I present a combined view of Raul as the rigorous academic and as the social media personality, for which I’m grateful.

Two other of my friends share the same birthday, coincidentally, Cinco de Mayo (the celebration abroad of Mexican heritage and of the win of Mexican troops over France in the late 1800s in the Battle of Puebla). Since everyone is doing something Mexican-themed today, I’ll raise a Margarita to all of my friends whose birthdays are today, including Jeremy and Alex. Feliz cumpleaños!
