Having what you want and loving what you have
I have been reflecting in the past couple of weeks, particularly as my 4 years blogaversary party approached, about how lucky I am. I don’t have a lot of money, I do have to live a budgeted life. I live in a small apartment. I don’t own a car, nor do I have many luxuries. I’m not one to own lots of gadgets. But I have a life I love. As my friend Jo Van Every wrote, I have the kind of academic life I have always wanted. I teach at the university level, do research, do consulting and I’m even mentoring students!
On the personal side, I have great friends, I have an amazing family, I am absolutely loved. My students really enjoyed my classes, and the feedback I received was fantastic. So, all in all, do I really have a right to complain? No, I don’t. I am living to the fullest, I feel integrated again.
I don’t have everything I want, but I love everything I have.
